Privacy Policy

MatchWork respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we use it, and your rights under GDPR.

1. Data controller

The data controller for personal data collected via matchwork.gr is MatchWork.

2. What we collect

We collect only data needed to operate the platform:

  • Account data: email, phone, password/PIN (hashed)
  • Worker profile: name, city, skills, soft skills, experience, availability, photo (optional), and — if you provide it voluntarily — nationality/work-permit details or related information in messages/profile
  • Business profile: company name, email, phone, logo, job posts
  • Technical: logs, language/session cookies, IP (security)
  • Payments: processed by Stripe — we do not store full card details

3. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process data based on:

  • Contract performance — providing matching and account services
  • Legitimate interest — security, abuse prevention, algorithm improvement
  • Consent — where required (e.g. future marketing emails)
  • Legal obligation — accounting/tax where applicable

4. Purpose of use

Data is used for matching, applications, service-related communication, business billing, and platform improvement.

We do not systematically verify the accuracy of immigration or work-authorization information users provide; accuracy is the responsibility of the user who supplies it.

We do not sell personal data to third parties for advertising.

5. Third parties

We share data only when necessary:

  • Stripe — subscription payment processing
  • Hetzner (EU) — hosting and database
  • Email provider (SMTP) — verification codes when enabled

6. Retention

We retain data while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion, as required by law.

You may request account deletion by contacting 210 700 0925 or privacy@matchwork.gr.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access your data
  • Rectify inaccurate information
  • Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) where permitted
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Data portability
  • Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies for login (session) and language preference (mw_lang). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

9. Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are stored hashed. Servers are located in the European Union.

Despite our measures, no internet transmission is 100% secure — please use the service with that understanding.
